MUSIC

"The golden mean of truth in all things is no longer either known or appreciated. In order to win applause one must write stuff which is so inane that a coachman could sing it, or so unintelligible that it pleases precisely because no sensible man can understand it."

--W. A. Mozart, from a letter to his father, 28 December 1782

Composed and, with a few exceptions, synthesized by humble self; the singing is with my composer-type voice. (Singers! Don't let this happen again! Volunteer!) As performances are recorded they will replace the electronic renditions. You can download MP3 audio files (I recommend the amazing G-force video display), and also the Finale scores themselves. Download the free Finale software to read these scores here. (If you have problems with scores coming up as gibberish you will need to download the latest Finale software at this link. Some scores I list also in PDF format.)

NEW ADDITIONS in 2010: Big new version of I'm a Physicist for baritone, chorus and orchestra; new editions of Der Jammerwock, with a version for baritone and two pianos; scores to the new orchestral and revised vocal scores to What I Hear After Submitting A Score; scores to the first and third movement of  The Three Kinds of Music for piano trio; video and mp3 recordings of Ananda Duet, Gayatri Sonata, Ananda Songs, and the Quartet for a New Beginning from the Feb. 10 Memorial Concert for Akanda; the complete Clarinet Sextet, under Music for Strings; recordings by Eric Pritchard and Randall Love of Solo Violin Sonatas #1, 10, and 11Govinda Sonata for violin and piano, and Ananda Dances arranged for violin and piano, recorded October 2009.

Please check out the recordings from Eric's January 14th recital at Duke on the page for the 11 Sonatas for Solo Violin (see under "Music for Strings" below). He performed Sonatas 1, 10, and 11.

In 2002, when I was trying to play the violin again after many years, I made two electric violins, one with 6 strings, designed to play in the cello position, with gear to hold up my right arm. I also used a curved bow; you can see this in action in the clickable picture at the Bach Bogen site. I had to stop in the summer of 2003 due to arthritis.

Here's a link to the video on You Tube of a fake commercial for a "Twelve-Tone Masters" compilation originally done by Robert Conrad and Co. in Cleveland in the '70s. Thanks to my dear friend Irene Bozarth for the heads up, and to Eric Pritchard for telling me about the video. Sums up my experience with the hideously ugly new concert music that has been dominant for a few generations now. None of that on THIS page!
